Ride the Reading Line to learn interesting facts about the way of life & their background history living on a Hutterite Colony.
They share their beginnings...in 1528 in Moravia...followed by their migrations from Hungary, Romania, Russia & finally to the plains of Dakota Territory in South Dakota in the 1870's.
After learning about the daily operations of the colony, we will enjoy tours of the following colony facilities: the kitchens, food preparations & storage areas, school, church, farming operation to include their new 250 head dairy barn with plans of processing cheese, they also specialize in all natural pork, wind turbines plus tours of the plentiful flower & vegetable gardens & their homes.
A delicious home-cooked meal, prepared & served by the Hutterites in the colony dining hall, plus a loaf (to take home) of their wonderful fresh-baked bread, is also included. This tour promises to be both educational & informative for everyone...including school age children!
